The world is changing and there’s nothing we can do to avoid it. Are we sure that being an employee is the best idea for the future?

Is 9–5 still the best choice?

I have a full-time job and I’ve been working in the same company for 11 years. I’ve seen the world changing around me while I was still and immobile, sitting on my salary that almost never changed. I read articles about side hustles every day, people who say that they have gained thousands of dollars in a few days and other stuff like that. Not all the things on the web are real and not all of them are reproducible, but I’m confident of one thing: a 9–5 job is not the best choice for the future.

Since the advent of Gig economy, freelancers and solopreneurs have learned that there’s more than a fixed salary in life and, if you are good enough, the alternative is better than a life whose time is managed by somebody else. Being an employee means that you work to make somebody follow their passion, manage their time (and yours) and be free while you work for less than you really deserve. Moreover, a daily job is not scalable. You work the same amount of time, you get the same amount of money. Sometimes you receive prizes or promotions, but you…
